About

I am a mother, teacher, writer, and adventure seeker.
When it comes to my background, I have a long history of writing, editing, and creating. I was one of those kids who would sit down for hours and write for fun. I wrote anything from silly poems to narrative stories with complex character development. I created ads marketing random products, then placed these in a commercial break of a television series (to which I was also the screen writer).

As I got older, I would turn to writing as a tool to get myself out of trouble as a teenager, or to grant me more freedom. For example, how could I convince my parents to give me a later curfew? Write a persuasive essay of course! …and yes, it actually worked.

Throughout my schooling, peers came to me for help with their written assignments or editing work. I was praised by my professors in grad school over my writing style and composition, which in my opinion is the best compliment for a person who has a passion for the written word.

Naturally, I accepted a job out of college as an English Teacher. For a decade I enjoyed teaching various writing styles including narrative, argumentative, informative, and creative. I have developed curriculum and formal assessments, some of which have been adopted at multiple schools throughout our district.
Editing, proofreading, and providing feedback to students is something I did consistently throughout my career; but it didn't stop with students. Colleagues frequently come to me to review their written work. Special education teachers and case managers have requested I edit their correspondence with parents, especially when working on hot cases where legal ramifications are a concern. My own boss (the principal) frequently asks me to proofread important emails prior to sending out to the staff or community. She claims I am better with words than most. I was hired as the main editor to a now published children's book (which you can check out here). This project was so rewarding as the story was made for young kids and new parents, audiences I am passionate about.

Although my professional experiences are important, my biggest joy is being a mom. As a single mother for years, I would pride myself in managing travel and nature adventures, solo with a young child. I am a product of teen parents, divorce, and now entering a blended family of my own. This paired with my years as a teacher and now school administrator, I specialize in the niche of education, parenting, and family dynamics. I enjoy helping others in these topics and sharing my experiences with the world.
